In Mathematics, students have been playing with addition and subtraction concepts. We also crunched numbers on our third budget of the year. In Art, we have begun to learn about the science of sound and music — starting with learning about french instrument vocabulary. While in Language Arts, with our big buddies, we have been writing and “weaving” stories. All inspired by Sylvain Rivard’s book “Couverture — Blanket — Maksa”:
Students created group art to celebrate the year of the water rabbit (and cat). They also attended the wonderful celebration event put on by the PAC:
We coloured graphic novels depicting land formation, while also representing the formation of landscapes in our science journals:
We also looked at the erosive powers of water, wind and ice — and how forest and deforestation/wildfires can impact soil stability — through science labs:
We explored identity via a walking activity, looking at the barriers that can present themselves in the lives of people. Through the“Les visages du monde” book, we looked at the faces of many cultures. We also viewed a gigantic timeline, tracing Musqueam presence in the region back 9000 years:
Other highlights of the last two months include the skating field trips, collecting books to donate to students from Douglas Elementary and demonstrating choreographed dances to the K classes in PE.
